Today we will be learning about different archetypes that appear in folktales. We will be creating another Inspiration map to compare and contrast these different character roles. Today we will be creating these mind maps individually and they will be turned in at the end of class. Because you all got practice doing this yesterday in groups, you will now be graded on your participation AND quality of your mind map.
** Discussion: What is an archetype? Can you think of some examples? Do folktales exist today? What are some examples of folktale stories that we tell today? Do you believe that the media such as movies, music, television, etc. has replaced folklore story telling?
Homework: Tonight's homework should be fun class. I am finally giving you that opportunity to tell your parents that your homework is to watch T.V. or a movie although there will be a little bit of writing involved. I have prepared a worksheet to fill out while you watch the television show or movie of your choice. On this worksheet you will see all of the different archetypes that we came up with in class, please fill out this worksheet by matching the characters in your show with what archetype you think they best resemble. Tomorrow you will be turning this in after we discuss them.
